Forras Missions

Metro Manila, Philippines                                                                     JANUARY 2005

What a wonderful time we had back in Seattle during the holidays! We want to thank all our friends and family who made our stay very relaxing and refreshing! A special thank you goes out to the Firth Family from Kirkland, Washington. They had given us their home during our 3-week stay. We were very blessed by their family!

January 2005

Forras Partnership Brunch

We want to thank all who attended the brunch in spite of the snow storm the night before. It was great to see all of you and the turn out was incredible! The brunch is held annually for all of our supporters just to say thank you for partnering with us in our Manila project and give you updates.

ISI (In Service Institute) and CPI (Church Planting Institute) Trainings

The two trainings held were successful! The emphasis for the ISI were: to encourage, inspire, and remind how the existing church planters have been called by God; to discuss again how to sustain the ministry over the long term through micro loans, grants, and of course discipleship; and to continue to reinforce the growing understanding of community development/ transformation by adopting the whole community. The CPI prepared the potential 22 church plant teams for starting a church in an urban poor community.

February 2005

Eastside Foursquare Church U-Turn High School Worship Team

The Team arrived February 19 for a 9 day short term mission trip. Led by team leader, Tim Oas, there were also 20 very talented youth and 4 adults. It was very inspiring to see the youth so passionate in serving God and the squatter communities. Separated into five groups, they worked in the communities at preschools, held impromptu mini concerts, and home visitations (praying and encouraging). They held two concerts. One was held outdoors at a community of one of our church plants. Approximately 400+ attended the concert. Another concert was held at our home church and over 350 youth attended. What a blessing the team was to the communities & our church planters. One Pastor said the team’s visit brought respect and credibility to our churches. These kids were amazing and we hope to see them soon serving again next year!

Prayers Answered

Thanks for all your prayers last month.
  • The ISI and CPI trainings went extremely well while having them at the same time

  • Prayer Requests

Here are this month’s prayer requests:
  • Baby Hyla is now 9 months old and is growing stronger. Surgeries are still up in the air due to risks. Doctors say she is a miracle baby! Please continue to pray for her and her family
  • Pray for Pete’s family mourning the loss of his 91 year old grandmother, Violet Bliss, and his 66 year old Aunt Norma. Pete was able to come home and officiated the double funeral in Renton.
  • For the 22 new church plant teams that attended the CPI training – that they will launch their churches in their communities.
  • For our existing 64 churches and 20 preschools - that they will continue to grow and make a difference in their communities.
  • For the Medical Team arriving in 2 days from Eastside Foursquare Church and Pure Works.
